| Biscochitos |
| New Mexican traditional cookies. |
| Ingredients |
| 6 C flour |
| ¼ t salt |
| 3 t baking powder |
| 1 C shortening |
| 1½ C sugar |
| 2 t anise seeds |
| 2 eggs |
| ¼ C milk |
| ¼ C sugar |
| 1 T cinnamon |
| Procedure |
| In medium bowl, sift flour with baking powder and salt. |
| In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar with anise until fluffy, beat in eggs one at a time. |
| Mix in flour and milk until well blended. |
| Turn dough out on a floured board and roll to ¼ to ½ inch thickness. Cut into shapes and dust with sugar and cinnamon. |
| Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes until brown. Rack cool. Store in air tight container. |
